LaRue County Reads is an exciting initiative that is designed to have every LaRue County Public School student reading at grade level within four years. This is a tremendous opportunity for everyone to get involved to make a brighter future for all of us!  Reading is at the cornerstone of all educational skills. Better-educated students will be able to reach for new opportunities and help shape a more skilled workforce. Often a child who is a struggling reader simply needs an interested adult's attention and assistance. One person with one child is a powerful combination that can make the difference and help to achieve the goal of every child reading on grade level throughout our public school system. For as small an investment as 30 minutes per week you can influence a child's education and, ultimately, their success in life.

What can you do to become a partner? There are a number of ways you can get involved with LaRue County Reads. Become a volunteer - Donate 30 minutes per week to read with a child in school, collect books, or help the schools organize the program. If your business, church group, scout troop, or other organization wants to get involved, they can adopt a school, hold a book drive, or volunteer as tutors. Call the LaRue County Board of Education at 358-8334 for more information about how you can help LaRue County children succeed!
