LaRue County Schools instructional supervisor Christina Boone has been selected as interim principal of LaRue County Middle School.
Boone has worked in the district since 2007. She taught science at the middle school until she moved into the instructional supervisor role in 2016.
“LaRue County Middle School has amazing students, families and staff,” Boone said. “I’m humbled and proud to be asked to serve as interim principal, and I’m ready for a great school year.”
The school’s site-based decision-making council decided against filling the position before the start of the school year and requested that superintendent David Raleigh appoint an interim principal. The council is expected to post the permanent position in the spring, when schools historically attract the most job applicants.
“This is the most important decision a council can make, and they owe it to the students to get it right,” Raleigh said. “In the meantime, we can rest assured that the school will not miss a beat under Ms. Boone’s leadership.”
The principal’s position opened in July, when Jason Detre resigned to take a job with another district.
The district is still developing plans for filling Boone’s role as instructional supervisor.
